The Tapestry
As I write this, being my first entry on this brand new blog, my mind keeps going back to a very special scripture that I hold very dear to my heart. It comes out of Jeremiah and it reads,Jeremiah 1:5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, And before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations." My Father recently taught me that I am kind of like a tapestry like the ones made a loooong time ago. It drove me to study about them and I now see what He meant. Tapestries, before the were woven, were created first by an artist. He would paint what the tapestry would look like first, then he would pass it along to the weavers.
The weavers would then very carefully weaving the tapestry until it was complete. This brings me to another very special scripture out of the Psalms. It states that,Psalm 139:14 "I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well." Think about that for a minute...You, just like the weavers tapestry, was not something that just happened. There was a great deal of planning involved in making you. Wow! A great deal of planning in making me. That is mind boggling that there truly is a being that knows the numbers of hairs I have... ok, ok, HAD.
Here is where we(humanity) messes up. We have a big problem for some reason with the plan. He sees the potential we have and we consistently mess up what He is trying to do in our lives because we just don't want to live in accordance with His word.
We very simply are unravelling ourselves from a beautiful work of art from the hand of God, into a jumbled up mess. In terms of marriage, if you don't honor your vows, you are unravelling a beautiful love triangle (you, your spouse, God). In terms of your body, name your pollutant, we are unravelling what He wants us to become. In terms of the church body, nit picking, grudge holding, gossiping, whining, complaining is turning what God has in mind of perfection into a jumbled mess of colorful thread.Well I for one am tired. I'm tired of being a jumbled mess. I want to stop unravelling myself and messing up what God has in store for me. I want to begin being empowered by the holy ghost to do what I was put on earth to do. I want start becoming what God, 10,000 years ago thought up for me and stop messing up what He wants to accomplish in my life. I want to become the tapestry that He created me to be.
